Bonito - Bodoquena - MS:Lying in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the city of Bonito and it's neighbour Bodoquena with it's National Park are the most fascinating natural areas of water leisure in the world.
It's a little paradise at the south of the Pantanal. Being here is to enjoy the unforgettable moments in harmony with nature at its plainest and most beautiful state. Hundreds of waterfalls, lakes and rivers of pristine waters, over 80 caves (dry and flooded), and endless species of fish and other wild animals are some of the attractions of the place. And they can all be reached without much trouble.
The main activity is certainly diving into great lakes of fresh and crystal clear waters, where a great variety of fishes calmly swim among visitors, in a dazzling display of color and movement. Snorkeling, scuba diving, light rafting, abseiling, horseback riding, caving, mountainbiking and trekking are just some of the fun things to do in these places.
Famous in this region is the Blue Lake Cave, impressive because of its geological formations and its blue-coloured lake. This cave has woken up the attention of tourists and researchers from all over of the world. Sunbeams permeate the lake, producing a spectacle of breathtaking beauty. Both the cavern's roof and bottom are full with speleological formations of different shapes and sizes. The bottom of the cavern harbors prehistoric skeletons of a giant ground sloth and a saber tooth tiger.
Blue Lake Cave- Found by a Terenan Indian in 1924, the cave possess in its interior a blue lake with dimensions that make it one of Earth's biggest flooded cave. In 1992 an Brazilian expedition of speleodivers found a series mammal fossils - as the Saber Tooth Tiger and the giant laziness - that lived during the Pleistoceno Period . Endowed by nature with a unique beauty, it impresses for its geological formation and the amazing blue colored water of the inside lagoon. Duration: 2 hours.
Rubber boat tour Rio Formoso (light rafting) - A great adventure on rubber boats with total capacity of 14 people, through a 8 Km course, until the Padre Island, coming across 3 waterfalls and 2 rapid courses. At the river's margin it is possible to see monkeys, birds and even big snakes, which in the winter come out from the water and go to the trees. Duration: 2hours.
Natural Aquarium- Located in the "Ecological Park Baia Bonita", the tour is divided by two parts: on foot safari through the "Animal Trail", where many varieties of regional animals can be observed. The snorkeling tour starts with a short training in the swimming pool, to get comfortable with the equipment, and leads to the crystal clear water from the "Baia Bonita", where the Rio Formosinho starts its course. There you will be in touch with a fascinating flora and fauna. The tour ends with a visit to the local museum with some interesting objects. Reception, swimming pool and restaurant. Snorkeling Rio Sucuri- This river name ( name of the biggest snake ) is someway scaring, it has already taken lots of people from all over the world to the ecstasy. It has exorbitant fauna and flora which impress very much the visitors. It is incredibly transparent along all the course, having accentuated curves between the dense vegetation which surrounds its margin. Snorkeling in totally transparent waters, rich in aquatic fauna and flora. Duration 3 hours.
Snorkeling Rio da Prata - Our dive begins at the East of Olho D'água River. The access to there is by an agreeable stroll through the interpretative trail in the Da Prata ciliary river's forest. In this course you will find the rich flora and if you are a little bit lucky maybe you can see others wild animals as the mutum, the udu, the nail-monkey, the cutia and the queixada. Walks through rustic trails for more than 1.6 mile. Very transparent waters, rich aquatic fauna and flora. Diving and snorkeling. Regional food restaurant. Duration: 4 hours.
Boca da Onça Eco Tour- The path will guide through the bush and forest about 5.5km (3.1 mi) and passes some interesting trees and 12 waterfalls (including the highest of the State of South Mato Grosso) with 156m (512 ft) of height. The tour includes stopping at natural swimming pools with hydro massage, which the Indians already enjoyed. Lunch included.Duration: 8 hours.
Diving Mimoso Cave- It is one of the most beautiful caves of the world for independent diving. The maximum depth for this diving is around 18 meters (59 ft) in crystal waters. A big variety of formations in the ceiling and the walls, such as stalactites, cones, etc. turns this diving tour into a fantastic trip, that culminates with the visit of the hall of the cones, an immense hall with limy formation of almost 8 meters (26 ft) of height. Diving license needed (CAVE DIVER) is needed. Duration: 40 minutes.
Rio do Peixe Waterfalls- A fascinating walk on the "Água Viva" farm , one of the prettiest landscapes in the region. Usually accompanied by the owner, the tour on foot takes about 2 hours with stops by some waterfalls, swimming-pools and small submerged caves. In the main house of the farm an excellent lunch will be served. Duration: 8 hours.
